Fly fishing in western Michigan on the Pere Marquette River with Guide
Walt Grau and The Spey Rod Outfitters & Guide Service will be a rewarding experience.
For the fly fisherman, otherwise cursed with the need to make a
living, time on the water is rare and priceless. While time on
the river can be spent enjoying the sights and the sounds of the stream,
the addition of a trout or a salmon is a very welcome thing.
With 20 plus years of experience to draw upon, The Spey Rod Outfitters
and Guide Service can help that fish dream come true and provide a safe,
enjoyable boat ride down the Pere Marquette or the White River. Let the
pro bring the boat, tackle, lunch and the local fish savvy, while you bring
your desire to fish and have a good time. Groups of one to three persons can be
accommodated with one boat. More boats and guides are available for four
or more anglers. Any 8 or 9 hour period of the day can be scheduled for the
trip although the fish often have an opinion about when the best time of the
day is. The best time of the year to fish for brown trout is May through August,
with June the best of the best! Salmon are in the river from mid August through
October with September the peak month. Steelhead are in the river year round,
but mid November and early April are the best times in a normal year. Your
best time to fish might be when you can get away to float, fish and relax
on one of Michigan's scenic rivers.
